CAA Unveils 2023-24 Preseason Poll

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The Coastal Athletic Association has unveiled the 2023-24 Women's Basketball Preseason Poll featuring four teams who received first-place votes.

Towson, one of last year's three regular season co-champions, topped the predicted order of finish with nine first-place votes. Stony Brook and regular season co-champion Northeastern round out the top three teams in the poll.

The Tigers' Kylie Kornegay-Lucas garnered CAA Preseason Player of the Year distinctions after averaging 14.1 ppg and 4.0 apg one season ago.

UNCW, projected to finish 14th in the CAA according to the league's head coaches, return seven letterwinners highlighted by senior guards Evan Miller and Britany Range.

Miller appeared in all 30 games, with a career-high 15 starts, in 2022-23 and established career bests with 7.0 ppg and 3.8 rpg.

The Charlotte, N.C., native will look to build on her late success last season after reaching double figures scoring in six of her final nine games, including a career-high 15 points vs. Hofstra in the CAA Championships.

Range started 25 games last season, the most among Seahawk returners. The Seton Hall transfer averaged 4.6 ppg and collected 38 steals. Range played every minute of five contests, including an overtime battle at rival Charleston.

The Middleburg, Fla., product scored a career-high 13 points in two of UNCW's final three regular season games.

The Seahawks will host a preseason exhibition vs. Mount Olive on Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. before officially opening the Nicole Woods era vs. Barton on Nov. 7.

Season tickets for the UNCW women's basketball season are now available. Individual game tickets will go on sale on Friday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m.
