UNCW Drops Four-Setter To Camels On Sunday

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW, the last remaining unbeaten team in Coastal Athletic Association play, suffered its first conference loss on Sunday with a 3-1 (27-29, 14-25, 29-27, 22-25) setback to visiting Campbell at Hanover Hall.

The Camels snapped UNCW's five-match winning streak and pushed its records to 7-9 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Seahawks, meanwhile, dropped to 8-8 and 5-1 in the league.

UNCW's Katie Lanz, who finished the weekend series with 37 total kills and 30 digs, held match-high honors with 16 kills and added eight digs. Caitlyn Callahan added 14 kills, a season-high, and hit .458 on the afternoon.

The Camels landed three in double-digit kills with Gwen Wolkow leading the way with 15. Chloe Cook and Melody Paige chipped in 14 and 13, respectively.

Wolkow finished with six total blocks as the Camels finished with an 8-5 advantage at the net.

The match saw 44 tied scores and 24 lead changes. In the first set alone, the score was tied 18 times and the lead changed hands 11 times.

The Seahawks visit the College of Charleston on Oct. 7-8. Both days are 1 p.m. starts at TD Arena.
