VolleyHawks Celebrate Senior Day With A Win

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Hannah Forbes recorded her ninth double-double of the season, and four Seahawks reached double digits in digs as UNCW celebrated Senior Day on Saturday with a 3-1 (21-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-22) win over visiting Stony Brook at Hanover Hall.

With the win, the Seahawks concluded the season with a 5-21 mark overall and 4-12 in the Coastal Athletic Association. The Seawolves, meanwhile, tote 11-14 and 7-9 marks into next week's conference championship tournament.

In the fourth and deciding set, the Seahawks opened an 8-3 lead and held off several late surges by the Seawolves.

Forbes paced the Seahawks with 15 kills, and freshman middle Lilly Sullivan added a career-high tying 11 kills.

Sarah Thompson collected a career-high 17 kills in her final collegiate match for the Seahawks, and red-shirt freshman Coley Shiflet chipped in 15. Rounding out the double-digit diggers were Forbes and Noe Gaeta with 13 and 11, respectively.

Marnie Ursem added six kills and six blocks for UNCW.

Kali Moore held match-high honors with 17 kills for the Seawolves, who hit .219 on the afternoon, but couldn't overcome 13 service errors and 11 reception errors. Quinn Anderson chalked up 14 kills of her own.
