UNCW Drops Two At Seahawk Volleyball Classic

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW dropped a pair of matches on Saturday to visiting Davidson (3-1) and Coastal Carolina (3-0) in the Seahawk Volleyball Classic at Hanover Hall.

With the losses, the Seahawks dropped to 0-3 to open the season. Davidson finished the tournament with a 2-1 mark while Coastal won the tournament with a 3-0 record.

Against Davidson, red-shirt sophomore Caitlyn Callahan hit .538 with eight kills in 13 attacks. Senior Kirsten Badowski, meanwhile, held team-high honors with nine kills while Katie Lanz had eight.

For the Wildcats, who hit .225 on the match, Isabel Decker (17 kills) and Jackie Bardin (12) combined for 29 kills.

Coastal Carolina cruised past UNCW in the final match, winning 3-0.

Ella Saada had 12 kills for the Chanticleers, who hit .310 as a team.

The Seahawks next compete in the Liberty Tournament in Lynchburg, Va., on Sept 2 against Murray Stateat3 p.m.
