Indoor Volleyball Releases 2022 Schedule

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW will open the 2022 season hosting Virginia Tech, Davidson and Coastal Carolina in the Seahawk Classic on Aug. 26-27, Seahawk Head Coach Dottie Hampton announced on Wednesday.

"I am so excited to get this season going," said Hampton, who begins her third season leading the program. "Our team put in great work over the spring and improved in a lot of areas. We got better and we are eager to see what that looks like with the addition of our incoming players. We have a tough and challenging schedule this season, so we are going to continue to work hard and get better every day."

The Seahawks, who welcome seven newcomers to the program for the 2022 season, take on Virginia Tech in the second match of the day on Aug. 26 and will close the tournament with two matches against Davidson and Coastal Carolina the following day.

UNCW will play in the second of three tournaments to open the season the following week at Liberty on Sept. 2-3. The Seahawks face Murray State in the tournament's opening match on the 26th. Winthrop rounds out that weekend's tournament field.

UCF will host UIC, NCAA-participant Miami, and the Seahawks in the final tournament on UNCW's schedule. The host Knights and Seahawks will meet at 7 p.m. on Sept. 9.
Colonial Athletic Association action opens with the Seahawks visiting William & Mary for a pair of matches on Sept. 17-18.

UNCW's conference opening matches will be the following weekend, Sept. 24-24, when they host the College of Charleston.

UNCW's road schedule consists of Northeastern (Oct. 8-9), CAA newcomer North Carolina A&T (Oct. 22-23) and Delaware (Oct. 29-30).

Home dates in conference play include Hofstra (Oct. 15-16), Elon (Nov. 5-6) and another CAA newcomer in Hampton (Nov. 12-13).

This season, the Seahawks and the Greater Praise Tabernacle Outreach Ministry are working together to feed the hungry. To help with the season-long project, the Seahawks will be accepting non-perishable food at each match.
