Forbes Sets Career-HIgh In Setback At Elon

Hannah Forbes posted a double-double with 18 kills

ELON, N.C. – Hannah Forbes notched her third consecutive double-double, including a career-high 18 kills, but UNCW fell in five sets (25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 25-21, 16-18) on Sunday at rival Elon.

With the loss, the Seahawks were eliminated from conference tournament contention while dropping to 4-20 overall and 3-11 in league play. The Phoenix, meanwhile, kept their postseason hopes alive with the win and improved to 7-18 and 5-9 in the CAA.

Forbes rounded out her double-double effort with 11 digs. Freshman Lilly Sullivan finished with a career-high of her own with 11 kills.

Olivia Heidel, a senior, doled out a season-high 48 assists and added three kills of her own. Heidel's assist total was the most by a Seahawk since 2022 when Belle Schall handed out 56 in a five-set win over William & Mary (Sept. 17).

Elon's Cameron Lanier matched Forbes with 18 kills while teammates Anna Sewell and Simrin Carlsen added 14 kills apiece.

After forcing a fifth set with a win in the fourth, the Seahawks held a 14-12 lead in the final set, but Elon's Lindsay Harris narrowed the deficit to one with a kill and Catherine Rucker knotted the set up with an ace.

The teams traded leads for the next four points before Lanier posted a kill for a 17-16 lead and Elon won the set and match on a UNCW hitting error.

The Seahawks close out their season next weekend when they host Stony Brook for two matches beginning on Nov.14, at 4 p.m.
