Hood Named To Team USA ADP Staff

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW head baseball coach Randy Hood has been named to the coaching staff of the Team USA Baseball 13u/14u staff.

Hood joins an impressive staff that includes Mississippi State Pitching Coach Scott Foxhall and Texas assistant coach and former major league all-star Troy Tulowitzki. Foxhall and Tulowitzki will serve as pitching and hitting coordinators for the Athlete Development Program. The program will be held Aug. 1-4 at the Team USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C.

"Getting this opportunity to work with USA baseball at this level is very exciting and I'm truly honored to have this opportunity and really looking forward to it," said Hood.

In 2022, Hood completed his third season as head coach of UNCW and his 21st overall with the program. During Hood's tenure with the Seahawks, they have made 10 trips to the NCAA Regionals, captured six Colonial Athletic Association tournament championships and 10 regular season titles.

Along with Hood, the coaching staff includes three current NCAA Division I head coaches in Eric Bakich (Clemson), Omar Johnson (Jackson State) and Elton Pollock (Presbyterian).

"We are very excited about the caliber of the coaches on this year's Athlete Development Program staff," said Ben Kelley, USA Baseball's Director of Baseball Operations. "The Athlete Development Program continues to be a tremendous opportunity for young players to learn and grow on and off the field at a pivotal time in their development. We have assembled a group of well-respected coaches from various levels of baseball and, under their guidance, we anticipate hosting a great event this summer for seventy-two of the best young baseball players in the United States."

The ADP, which will now welcome 72 athletes to the USA Baseball National Training Complex for the first time, will feature advanced on-field skills development with positional and team-fundamental drills, along with ongoing evaluation by the coaching staff. The participants will be split across four teams and compete head-to-head in a series of games. Additionally, the athletes will participate in off-field educational seminars while gaining additional exposure to professional scouts and college recruiters.
