Baseball Preview: at Coastal Carolina

CONWAY S.C. – UNCW and Coastal Carolina meet Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Springs-Brooks Stadium in a rescheduled game that will round out the home-and-home series between the two programs this season.

The Seahawks topped the visiting Chanticleers, 9-4, earlier this season and then had the return game on Apr. 5 postponed due to inclement weather.

The Chanticleers (25-15-1) enter the midweek contest on a high note after taking 2-of-3 at nationally-ranked Georgia Southern last weekend. UNCW lost its home series to Colonial Athletic Association rival Elon to fall to 24-18.

Graduate Student Ethan Baucom had a solid weekend for the Seahawks, going 6-for-12 with four runs scored and four knocked in against the Phoenix. Teammate Matt Suggs moved into the CAA lead with11 home runs while Baucom is tied for second with 10. Baucom now has at least 10 home runs in four different seasons during his collegiate career.

UNCW returns to Brooks Field this weekend for its final home CAA series of the season. Conference-leader College of Charleston visits Brooks Field with game one starting at 6 p.m. on Friday. The Seahawks will honor their seniors prior to Sunday's game.
