Baseball Preview: at JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. – UNCW heads to Harrisonburg looking to move up in the Colonial Athletic Association standings this weekend when it takes on James Madison on Thursday in the first of a three-game series with the Dukes at Eagle Field.

The Seahawks (29-21, 13-8 CAA) are third in the league and need to win twice this weekend to clinch the second seed and the opening round bye in the tournament that comes with it. Hofstra sits in second at 15-9 and is idle this weekend.

UNCW carries a modest four-game winning streak into the final series of the season, including an impressive three-game sweep of Northeastern at Friedman Diamond. It was UNCW second sweep of the Huskies in Brookline with the first being in 2012.

Sophomore reliever Ethan Chenault was named Pitcher of the Week by the CAA following yeoman's work last week. The righthander made three appearances and notched a pair of wins. Chenault finished with two hits allowed and 11 strikeouts in those three appearances.

The series continues Friday with another 6 p.m. first pitch before wrapping up with a 1 p.m. start on Saturday.
