Men's Golf Wins Third Tournament Of The Spring

Seahawks edge Wofford in one-hole playoff

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Wofford played the final 18 holes of the Wofford Invitational at 10-under-par to tie UNCW for the tournament championship, but it was the Seahawks who would win a one-hole playoff for their third tournament win of the spring.

Wofford's Cedric Otten earned medalist honors, winning by three strokes over Tobias Jonsson of Mercer. Otten started the round tied for fourth but shot six-under-par in the final round to win the individual championship.

UNCW sophomore Patrick Sparks finished tied for third, a season-best, at six-under-par.

Sander Akeren, who finished with 16 birdies for the tournament, posted UNCW's best round of the day on Tuesday, finishing two-under and moving into a tie for 11th overall.

UNCW returns to the course on Apr. 24-26 at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships in Beaufort, S.C.
