Men's Track and Field Joe Browning

Seahawks Compete In Bill Carson Invite

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW track and field teams make their fifth appearance of the outdoor season this weekend when they travel to Greenville, N.C., to compete in the 8th Annual Bill Carson Invitational.
 
The scored meet, staged by East Carolina, runs Friday and Saturday at Minges Family Field at the Bate Foundation Track and Field Facility.
 
The Seahawks will be joined by the host Pirates, The Citadel, Virginia Tech, Mount Olive and UNC Pembroke.
 
UNCW's men will be led by reigning CAA T&F Athlete of the Week Josh Parks and CAA T&F Field Athlete of the Week Owen Pelletier. Parks won his third event of the season last weekend when he took the 400 Meter Hurdles at the Raleigh Relays. Pelletier logged a career-best leap of 23-0 in the Long Jump.
 
The women's team is anchored by junior Courtney Lines, who won the league's first Field Athlete of the Week honor two weeks ago. The Leland, N.C., product posted a fourth place finish in the Heptathlon at the Bill Webb Combined Events/Bob Davidson Memorial, setting a school record and stadium record with a mark of 20-3.50 in the Long Jump.
