Track & Field Hosts Seahawk Invitational

Meet kicks off Friday morning

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW opens the outdoor season this weekend when it hosts the Seahawk Invitational, beginning on Friday at 9 a.m. with the Hammer Throw.

The two-day meet will be held at the Greene Track and Field Complex. Distance running events will open on Friday with the women's Steeple Chase at noon.

The program sent seven student-athletes to the NCAA regional last spring and four return this spring.

In the throws, Miles Higgins and Jordyn Robbins captured Coastal Athletic Association championships last spring in the Javelin. For Robbins, it was her second consecutive title.

Ivan Poag and Donovan Lara head up the jump returners.

Poag, who made his NCAA debut last spring in the Triple Jump, finished second in the High Jump at the CAA Championships. He placed fourth in the Triple Jump at the CAA Meet.

Lara, meanwhile, made his third NCAA appearance and became a two-time CAA High Jump champion.
