WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's tennis team continued to roll on its home courts on Sunday, blanking visiting Bryant, 4-0, to cap a busy weekend of matches for
Mait DuBois and the defending Colonial Athletic Association champions.
The Seahawks won their third consecutive match and raised their record to 9-6 this spring, including a sparkling 8-1 at home. UNCW has won three of four matches on its current five-match homestand.
Bryant, out of the Northeast Conference, dropped all three matches on its spring break trip to the Port City and fell to 7-16.
The Seahawks captured the doubles point for the seventh time this season with victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions before winning the first three matches off the court in singles.
The top doubles tandem of
Dillon Gooch and
Bekhzod Rasamatov secured the doubles point by defeating Bryant's Diego Trejo and Diego Serra Sparrow, 6-3.
In singles, senior
Davide Innocenti of UNCW sprinted past Bryant's Nick Lorenz, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 3 and Rasamatov romped past Teague Burger, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 2 singles to increase the score to 3-0. Sophomore
Reece Falck then clichéd the match for the fourth time by taking down Sparrow, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 1 singles.
