Women's Tennis Team Starts Strong

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The UNCW women's tennis team opened the 2022 spring season on a successful note on Saturday, slipping past visiting Presbyterian, 4-3, in breezy conditions at the UNCW Courts.
 
The Seahawks, featuring three new players in the lineup, dropped the doubles point, but rallied with four singles victories to defeat the Blue Hose of the Big South Conference. PC now stands 2-3 on the year.
 
In the first of 11 home dual matches during the new season, the Seahawks displayed good depth up and down the lineup to open the spring campaign. UNCW registered singles victories at No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 singles in temperatures in the upper 40s.
 
The Seahawks next travel to Buies Creek, N.C., on Friday, Feb. 11, for their next match at 2 p.m.
