Arli Clinches Win Over Stony Brook

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Eda Arli's three-set win on court one lifted UNCW past Coastal Athletic Association foe Stony Brook, 4-3, on Sunday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks improved to 5-3 with the win, while the Seawolves slid to 4-9.

UNCW opened the match by sweeping the doubles point, with Simay Keles and Lucia Gomez clinching the point with a 6-3 win.

SBU tied the match with a win on court four, but Keles notched a 6-4, 6-0 win on court five for a 2-1 Seahawk lead. Alex Borcich pushed the lead to two with a straight-set victory on court six.

The Seawolves, however, fired back to draw even with wins on courts two and three, setting the stage for Arli.

On court one, Mia Palladino captured the first set, 6-4, but Arli tied it with a 7-5 win and then clinched the afternoon with another 7-5 win.

The Seahawks continue their homestand on Mar. 21 against Hofstra.
