Lanz, Hanlon Key Volleyball Win Over Hampton

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Behind a combined 29 kills from Katie Lanz and Emily Hanlon, UNCW knocked off visiting Hampton in four sets (22-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-20) in Colonial Athletic Association volleyball action on Senior Day Saturday at Hanover Hall.

The Seahawks improved to 5-19 on the season and 3-12 in the CAA. Hampton, meanwhile, remained winless in conference play at 0-15 and 3-15 on the season.

Lanz led all players with a match-high 17kills while Hanlon posted a career-high 12 kills and hit .364.

Annabelle Schall doled out 37 assists and finished off her ninth double-double of the season with 18 digs. Ashley Thompson held match-high honors with 21 digs.

Clara Smith finished with 12 kills for the Pirates, who are in the first season as a member of the conference. Julieta Campana had a double-double of 16 assists and 10 digs.

For the final three sets, there was just one lead change, coming in the fourth set, as UNCW led from wire-to-wire in the second and third sets.

UNCW and Hampton conclude the series and their season on Sunday with a 2 p.m. start at Hanover Hall.
