Princeton Edges UNCW In ITA Kick-Off

GAINESVILLE, Florida – Princeton broke open a close match with victories at No. 4 and No. 6 singles to edge UNCW, 4-2, as the Seahawks wrapped up their appearance in the 13th Annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend on Sunday at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks, 0-2, return to the UNCW courts for their spring home opener on Friday, Feb. 4, 2022, vs. Kennesaw State at 1 p.m.
 
Princeton, 1-2, won the doubles point and picked up three singles victories to gain a split of the weekend tournament after falling to No. 3 Florida on Saturday.
 
Sophomore Reece Falck and freshman Harold Huens posted singles victories for the Seahawks. Falck edged Princeton's Damian Rodriguez, 6-7 (4), 6-0, 6-4, at No. 3 singles. while Huens downed Bill Duo at the No. 5 position, 6-0, 6-2.
 
Sixty teams competed at 30 regional sites in the event. Four teams participated at each regional and the winners moved on to the indoor nationals.
