Hackett Leads UNCW In Final Round

SAPPHIRE VALLEY, N.C. – Drew Hackett closed out the final round of the J.T. Poston Invitational with an even-par-round to finish tied for 25th on Tuesday at the Country Club of Sapphire Valley. The Seahawks finished tied for 11th.

South Carolina won the tournament by two strokes over Middle Tennessee, which began the day in third and jumped over Chattanooga for the runner-up finish.

Braedon Wear, who finished 10-under, of the Gamecocks won medalist honors by two strokes over Wofford's Matthew Larkin, who made a run in the final round to move from eighth to second. Joining Larkin in the runner-up spot was Tobias Jonsson of Mercer at eight-under.

Hackett finished the tournament one-under following his final round of even-par golf. He posted birdies on the second and 12th holes, but birdied holes sis and 10.

Patrick Sparks carded UNCW's low-round of the day, finishing one-under. He played even-par on the back nine before consecutive birdies to open the front nine dropped him to two-under.

UNCW was three-over for the round and finished two shots behind Furman for 10th by a pair of strokes.

The Seahawks next compete at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate hosted by NC State. The tournament is slated for 36 holes on Oct. 16 followed by a single round the following day.
