Sandoval Wins Jersey Mike's Singles Title

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW newcomer Ignacio Sandoval knocked off teammate Samuel De Felipe for the Flight B singles crown as the curtain closed on the Jersey Mike's Seahawk Fall Invitational early Sunday at Porters Neck Country Club.
 
"We'd like to thank the Porters Neck tennis community and Yona Bar Zeev, in particular, for putting on a first-class event," said Mait DuBois, UNCW's 15-year head coach. "I'm very proud of our team and their performance this weekend. We really enjoyed playing in front of the Porters Neck crowds."

In the Flight B singles championship, Sandoval, a freshman from Alicante, Spain, knocked off De Felipe, another Seahawk rookie from Oviedo, Spain, 6-1, 6-2.

In the West Flight doubles finale, James Madison's Stefan Petrovic and Mathieu Josserand topped Sandoval and John Dransfeld, 6-2.
 
The Flight A singles championship match between Seahawk sophomores Bekhzod Rasamatov and Gabriel Hurtado was not played.
