KANSAS CITY, Missouri – UNCW graduate student forward
Nicolas Molina has been named to the 2021 Men's Hermann Trophy Watch List by the Missouri Athletic Club.
Molina, the first UNCW player to earn a spot on the Hermann Trophy Watch List since Phillip Goodrum in 2019, joined the Seahawks this fall after playing the last two seasons at St. Francis Brooklyn. The Buenos Aires, Argentina, product started 19-of-25 games for the Terriers and scored five goals with four assists.
A First-Team All-Northeast Region selection by the United Soccer Coaches, Molina scored three goals with three assists in 10 games during the 2021 spring season and led the Terriers to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the nation's National Player of the Year. Division I coaches who are members of the United Soccer Coaches College Services Program vote for the award.
A group of 15 players will be selected as Hermann Trophy semifinals on Nov. 30 following United Soccer Coaches Division I All-America voting, which takes place after the regular season. A final round of voting names three finalists on Dec. 15 and the 2021 winner will be announced on Jan. 7, 2022, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
