Seahawks Collect Fifth Victory

Box Score FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina – The UNCW women's tennis team notched its third shutout of the season early Saturday, dominating NCAA Division III Methodist,7-0, at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center.
 
Playing back-to-back matches after battling CAA rival Elon on Friday, the Seahawks improved to 5-6 this spring. The Monarchs dropped to 4-8 with their third consecutive loss.
 
The Seahawks captured the doubles point for the ninth time in 11 matches for a quick 1-0 advantage and then cruised to victories in the first three singles matches off the court, capped by senior Sarah Horn's match-clinching 6-1, 6-0, verdict over Methodist's Luciana Forma.
 
The Seahawks open a four-match home stand next Friday, March 26, with a 2 p.m. clash against CAA foe James Madison. Methodist travels to Danville, Va., on Sunday, Mar. 28, to take on Averett in a 1 p.m. match.
