Seahawks Conclude Series With Heels

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW and North Carolina conclude a three-game men's basketball deal when the Seahawks visit the Dean E. Smith Center for the fourth time in a matchup scheduled for Dec. 15, 2020.

The Seahawks and Tar Heels have met on five occasions and four of those have been in Chapel Hill. North Carolina has won all five contests by an average of 23.0 ppg.

uncw_unc_graphicIn last year's installment of the series, No. 9 UNC downed the Seahawks, 78-62, in their first appearance at venerable Trask Coliseum. UNCW stayed close early before the Tar Heels used an 18-7 run late in the first half for a 40-29 cushion at the break. UNC then went on a 12-2 spurt midway through the final period to pull away down the stretch.

Three Tar Heels – Garrison Brooks, Justin Pierce and Cole Anthony – registered double-doubles in the 16-point decision one year ago. Sophomore guard Jaylen Sims and freshman playmaker Shykeim Phillips paced UNCW with 12 points apiece.
