  • UNCW continues its season-opening road swing this weekend as the Seahawks venture to Auburn, Ala., for the Plainsman Invitational hosted by Auburn ... The Seahawks will take on the host Tigers and Alabama State in a five-game schedule, which starts on Friday, Feb. 14, with a pair of games. 
  • Live stats for all of the Seahawks' games this weekend can be found at UNCWStats.com ... In addition, the Seahawks' game against Auburn on Saturday, Feb. 15, is scheduled to air on SEC Network Plus. 
  • The Seahawks are 0-2 all-time against Auburn after dropping two games at Auburn during the 2018 season ... Meanwhile, UNCW won its only previous meeting with Alabama State with a 9-1 victory on Mar. 13, 2004, in a game played at Winthrop. 
  • UNCW began its 2020 season last weekend by competing at the Red and Black Showcase hosted by the University of Georgia ... After beginning the campaign with an 11-3 victory over Howard, the Seahawks dropped three straight games, including a pair of contests against No. 16 Georgia. 
  • Sophomore Janel Gamache anchored the Seahawks' offensive efforts last weekend by hitting .500 (5-for-10) with two home runs, a double and five runs batted in ... The Exeter, R.I., product was the only UNCW player to reach base safely in all four games last weekend and had a .583 on-base percentage.
  • The Seahawks authored a 26-28 record last year, including an 8-13 mark in Colonial Athletic Association play ... UNCW narrowly missed earning its third consecutive CAA Tournament berth after finishing sixth in the league's standings. 
  • Senior infielder Dominique Travers ranks third on the Seahawks' all-time list with 17 career home runs after slugging a team-high 10 homers last year ... The Montclair, Va., native started 48-of-51 games last season and authored a .237 batting average with 23 runs scored and 21 runs batted in. 
  • Senior right-handed pitcher Rylee Pate, who went 1-1 last weekend with four strikeouts, led the Seahawks with a 9-9 record last year to go with a 3.81 earned run average ... The Mount Olive, N.C., product has 114 career strikeouts, which ranks 19th in program history, in 181.2 career innings. 
  • Sophomore catcher Jada Santiago, who started 52 games a season ago, earned CAA All-Rookie Team honors after ranking second on the team with a .290 batting average along with six home runs and 23 runs batted in. 
  • UNCW was picked to finish seventh in the CAA's Preseason Order of Finish according to a vote of the league's head coaches ... James Madison, which has won three of the last four CAA titles, was the unanimous pick to claim the championship again this year followed by Elon. 
  • The Seahawks' 2020 roster features 10 freshmen and eight sophomores among its 25-player list ... In addition, the roster features 20 players from the State of North Carolina. 
  • Up Next: UNCW opens its home schedule next weekend by welcoming Brown, Eastern Kentucky and George Washington to Boseman Field for the Seahawk Softball Classic.
