Softball Falls in CAA Tournament

ELON, North Carolina – The No. 2 seed UNCW softball team concluded its season with a 6-1 setback to No. 1 seed Hofstra in Friday's first elimination game of the Coastal Athletic Association Championships at Elon's Hunt Softball Park.

The Pride (30-22) advanced to play No. 3 seed Campbell on Friday afternoon for a spot in Saturday's CAA Championship Game vs. No. 5 seed Charleston. The Seahawks finish 2026 at 33-19.

Hofstra senior Emma Falen (14-11) scattered seven hits and surrendered one run in the complete game effort.

UNCW sophomore Lynsie Herman (7-4) tossed 4.2 innings with five strikeouts while surrendering three runs, two earned.

The Pride cashed in a third-inning Seahawk error when senior Alanna Morse doubled home junior Mackenzie Fitzgerald to give the top seed an early 1-0 lead.

UNCW evened the score in the fifth inning with an RBI single off the bat of freshman Ava Brookshire and had the bases loaded before Falen induced an infield fly out and strikeout to keep the game even.

Fitzgerald put Hofstra ahead again in the bottom of the fifth a run-scoring double and Morse singled for her second RBI of the day.

Sophomore Gemma D'Orazio capped a three-run sixth inning with a two-run home run to put the Pride in command, 6-1.
