Pardo Earns Spot on Puerto Rico National Team

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW freshman Malina Pardo has been selected to compete for the Puerto Rico U-20 National Team during the upcoming CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship.

Pardo, from Raleigh, N.C., appeared in five games for the Seahawks in her rookie campaign. She played a season-high 12 minutes against Coastal Carolina on Aug. 29 and also saw action against Furman, Stephen F. Austin, VCU and Charleston.

"We're very proud and happy for Malina," UNCW Head Coach Chris Neal said. "It will be a tremendous experience for her to be part of the World Cup qualifying phase."

The CONCACAF Women's Under-20 Championship, which is a qualifying tournament for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup, will take place from Feb. 22 to Mar. 9 in the Dominican Republic. The finalists and the third-place match winner advance to the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in August.
