UNCW opens a 7-match road stretch in Buies Creek

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – UNCW opens a seven-match road stretch on Tuesday at longtime rival Campbell at Gore Arena.

The Seahawks opened the season with three wins and a tournament championship last weekend while hosting the Hampton Inns Invitational. UNCW knocked off North Florida in four before sweeping Charleston Southern and Duquesne in the championship.

While the Seahawks have bolted out of the gates, Campbell went 0-3 at the Mercer Classic. The Camels fell in their season opener to Georgia Southern and later fell to Nicholls State and host Mercer.

UNCW junior Anna Weissmann was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Colonial Athletic Association on Monday. Weissmann totaled 46 digs over the weekend, averaging 4.6 per set. She posted a career-high 20 in the win over North Florida.

Junior Kyla Augustine earned tournament Most Valuable Player honors for the Seahawks. Augustine closed out the tournament with career-highs in kills with 12 and digs with 10. Her 25 kills for the tournament were second most for the Seahawks.

After Tuesday, the Seahawks visit Durham for the Duke Invitational on Friday and Saturday. UNCW plays Appalachian State and Duke on Friday before closing out the schedule against Wofford on Saturday.

Tuesday's match will be streamed on ESPN+.
