ELON, N.C. -- The Seahawks, who have not played since last Saturday, visit Colonial Athletic Association regular season champion Elon for three games this weekend beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
This weekend is another important one for the Seahawks, who are tied with Northeastern and Delaware for fifth at 8-10 in the conference standings. Delaware hosts Hofstra while the Huskies take on James Madison in Brookline, Mass.
The Seahawks, Huskies and Blue Hens have all posted 3-3 record in games amongst themselves with UNCW owning a tie-breaker over Northeastern, Delaware owning it over UNCW and Northeastern won its series against Delaware. Head-to-head is the first tie-breaker if there are two teams with the same record. Should there be a tie with three or more teams, the first tie-breaker would be record against the top seed, if still tied then it would go to record versus the second seed and so on.
Elon (29-20, 18-3) is closing out its regular season and will enter the conference tournament later this month as the top-seed. The Phoenix are paced by its powerful rotation of Kyle Brnovich (6-3, 3.58 ERA), George Kirby (8-1, 2.20) and Jared Wetherbee (6-4, 2.86). In conference games, Elon has compiled a 2.63 ERA as a staff.
Offensively, the Phoenix are hitting .256, led by Joe Satterfield's .350 average. Cam Devanney is hitting .318 with eight home runs and has driven in 46 runs. Ty Adock leads the team with 10 home runs and 48 RBI's. He also serves as the closer and has eight saves.
