Seahawks, Barisano Cap Regular Season

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW women's tennis team wrapped up the regular season and bid farewell to lone senior Sabrina Barisano in a 4-0 defeat to state rival Charlotte in the home and regular season finale early Friday at the UNCW courts.
 
The Seahawks carry an 8-11 record into next week's Colonial Athletic Association Women's Tennis Championships in Elon, N.C. The 49ers reeled off their ninth consecutive victory to hike their record to 17-6 this season.
 
The 49ers won the early point and tacked on three singles victories before the match was stopped. It was the third straight shutout for Charlotte.
 
UNCW's top doubles tandem of Barisano and Maddy Muller-Hughes provided the highlight of the day for the Seahawks. The pair upset No. 79 Immie Cowper and Tai Martin, 6-1, to increase their record to a sparkling 14-4 this year at the No. 1 doubles position.
 
The 2019 CAA Women's Tennis Championships run Wednesday through Saturday, April 17-20, at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
