WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW softball team heads south to Florida for the second time this season as the Seahawks participate at the Jacksonville/North Florida Spring Break Challenge.
The Seahawks, who are 9-9 on the season, will play two games on Friday, Mar. 8, and Saturday, Mar. 9, before closing the weekend with a single game on Sunday, Mar. 10.
UNCW won three of five games at the Courtyard by Marriott Seahawk Softball Classic last weekend, including a pair of victories over in-state foe North Carolina A&T and a 3-0 shutout triumph over Lehigh.
Freshman
Janel Gamache continues to pace the Seahawks offensively with a .348 batting average while adding 18 hits, including 10 extra-base hits, and 16 runs batted in.
Junior
Rylee Pate has earned five of the Seahawks' nine wins in the circle, posting a 5-3 record with a 2.48 earned run average. She also leads the UNCW pitching staff with 31 strikeouts in 53.2 innings.
