Herman, Seahawks Blank Pirates 6-0

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – UNCW sophomore Lynsie Herman tossed a complete game shutout in a 6-0 softball victory over rival East Carolina on Tuesday evening at Boseman Field.

The Seahawks (20-13) won their season-high fifth straight game to split the season series against the Pirates (22-16).

Herman (5-2) scattered five hits while striking out a season-high six batters for her second mid-week shutout of 2026.

UNCW matched a season-high with 14 hits, including multi-hit games by Becca Merrick (3), Madison Biddle (2), Grace Hennessy (2) and Emily Whitwell (2).

After Biddle and Whitwell drove in first-inning runs, the Seahawks rattled off six singles in the third inning for three more scores, including Whitwell's second RBI of the game.

Merrick, who also drove in a third-inning run, shot a single up the middle in the fourth to score Biddle, who doubled a batter earlier, and make it 6-0.

The Seahawks next head to Hampton for a three-game set beginning with a Friday doubleheader at 1 p.m.
