Jones Wins Bronze In 1,500 Meters

ROCK HILL, South Carolina – Sophomore Evan Jones placed third in the Men's 1,500 Meters to highlight UNCW's finishes on the final day of the 2019 Adidas Winthrop Invitational on Saturday at Winthrop's Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex.
 
Jones, from St. John, Virgin Islands, overcame a sore ankle to clock a 4:04.42 time, finishing behind only Ian Johnson of Ashland (4:02.72) and Logan Ward of UNC Pembroke (4:04.37).
 
Junior KeAndre Yeoman also enjoyed a strong day, posting 54.66 time in the Men's 400 Meter Hurdles for eighth place overall, while sophomore Mikaya Spencer placed ninth in the Women's 400 Meter Hurdles in 1:04.40 and sophomore Annie Hanna came in ninth in the Women's 800 Meters in 2:17.65.
 
The meet featured a record 1,277 student-athletes from 37 schools.
 
The Seahawks return to the oval in two weeks when they compete in East Carolina's Bill Carson Invitational on April 5-6 in Greenville, N.C.
