Seahawks Drop Final Match In Florida

Daytona Beach, FLORIDA – Bethune-Cookman rode the early doubles point to a narrow 4-3 victory over UNCW in the final match of a spring break road trip for the Seahawks to Florida on Friday.
 
The Wildcats snapped a three-match losing streak and improved to 2-7 this spring. The Seahawks stand 5-8 after playing Bethune-Cookman for the first time since 2004.
 
UNCW closed out its trip to the Sunshine State with a 1-2 record, beating USC Upstate and losing to Western Carolina and Bethune-Cookman.
 
In Friday's see-saw match against the Wildcats, the Seahawks dropped the early point and split six singles matches. Freshman Michelle Ncube won the deciding match at the top of the lineup to help the Wildcats get back into the winning column.
 
UNCW captured three matches in the middle of the singles lineup and tied the match twice before the tough ending. Rishikia Ravindran (No. 3), Lea Dubois-Rebiere (No. 4) and Rachel Marthinsen (No. 5) each took matches, but it was not enough to overcome the Wildcats.
 
The Seahawks return to North Carolina to entertain CAA rival Elon on Wednesday, March 27, at 2:30 p.m.
