Three Seahawks Win At UNCW Invite

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Courtney Cefalo, Chloe Byrd and Jonathan Lloyd each registered wins on the opening day of the 2019 UNCW Seahawk Invitational on Friday at the newly-renovated Harold Greene Track & Field Complex.
 
The meet, featuring student-athletes from nine schools, wraps up on Saturday, beginning with the Men's High Jump at 10 a.m. The meet continues throughout the day, concluding with the Men's and Women's 4x400 Relays at 4:30 pm.
 
In Friday's action, contested in windy conditions, Cefalo made it 2-for-2 this spring by taking the Women's Long Jump with a leap of 18-07.25. Byrd built a big lead in the Women's 5,000 Meters and cruised to first place in 19:33.11. Lloyd, a freshman from San Antonio, Texas, captured first place in the Men's Javelin with a throw of 160-02.
 
The bulk of the meet will be staged tomorrow and a special "Senior Day" salute will be held at 11:30 a.m. to honor seniors Calvin Daughtry, Moe Holmes, Nathan Rodgers, Jonathan Stephens and Courtney Cefalo.
