Catamounts Trim Seahawks In Orlando

ORLANDO, Florida – State rival Western Carolina claimed the early doubles point and added four singles victories to trim UNCW, 5-2, in women's tennis action late Wednesday at the USTA National Center.
 
The Catamounts won their third straight match to improve to 8-6 with the win. The Seahawks, kicking off their spring break trip to sunny Florida, fell to 4-7 after losing their fifth consecutive match.
 
Seahawk senior Sabrina Barisano raised her record to 8-2 with a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 3-0, ret., victory over WCU's Lauren McCall at No. 3 singles. Sophomore Maddy Muller-Hughes moved to 7-3 on the season by rallying past Jordan Strickland, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4, at the top of the lineup.
 
The Seahawks continue their Florida trip on Thursday with a 10 a.m. match against USC Upstate at Stetson's Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand.
