WILMINGTON, North Carolina – The UNCW men's basketball team has another opportunity to sharpen up for next week's Colonial Athletic Association tournament early Saturday when the Seahawks travel to Charleston to face the Cougars in the regular season finale for both teams.

The Seahawks (9-21, 5-12) and Cougars (22-8, 11-6) meet for the 28th time overall and sixth time at TD Arena with the 4 p.m. tip. The Cougars took the initial meeting back on Dec. 29, 73-66, in a post-Christmas gathering at Trask Coliseum.

Live Seahawk Digital Network (SDN) coverage of the UNCW-CofC contest begins at 3:45 p.m. with Mike Vaccaro, the "Voice of the Seahawks," on the call. Visit UNCWsports.com/SDN for live audio coverage.

A radio broadcast of the game may be heard on 95.9 FM "The Breeze" | WKXB HD 2 – 95.9 FM and 99.9 HD2 and live stats are available at UNCWStats.com.

"We played them in late December and we're both different teams now," said C.B. McGrath, UNCW's second-year head coach. "It all starts with (Grant) Riller and (Jarrell) Brantley on how you defend them when you play Charleston. Their offense runs around those two and they do a great job on the defensive side of things as well."

UNCW dropped both games in a two-game road trip to Elon and William & Mary last weekend, including a 71-63 decision to the Tribe in Williamsburg on Saturday. Seventeen of UNCW's 30 games this season have been decided by less than 10 points.

"You can't pinpoint one or two things, it's been something different every game. It's unfortunate. We're just not finishing games out the game we need to," added McGrath.

Charleston, meanwhile, has been steady throughout the season and topped the Phoenix, 84-74, last Saturday in its last appearance. The Cougars have won eight of their last 10 games and stand 12-2 at home this season.

THE STORYLINES

THE SERIES: The Seahawks led the series with the Cougars by a narrow 14-13 margin. Charleston has won three in a row, however, and claimed a close 80-76 verdict in last year's installment at TD Arena.

SEAHAWKS VS. COUGARS AT TD ARENA: The two teams have only played five times at TD Arena and the Seahawks have won three of them. The five meetings at TD Arena have been decided by six points or less.

SEAHAWKS VS. COUGARS IN CAA PLAY: CofC is concluding its seventh year in the CAA in 2018-19. The Seahawks own a 9-5 advantage over the Cougars in conference play, but CofC has taken four of the last five meetings.

CACOK MOVES UP ANOTHER LIST: Record-setting senior forward Devontae Cacok makes his 95th start tonight and stands eighth on the school's all-time list.

TOEWS NEARS ALESSI: Freshman playmaker Kai Toews has a shot at breaking two significant records in the coming games. He needs nine assists to break Rick Alessi's single season UNCW record of 244 assists set in 1974-75. He is also 16 helpers shy of setting a new CAA mark for assists in a season (the record of 251 is held by George Mason's Curtis McCants - 1994-95).

NEXT UP: Following Saturday's early tip, the Seahawks return home briefly before heading back to the low country to open play in the 2019 CAA Tournament at the North Charleston Coliseum next weekend.
