Seahawks Suffer 5-2 Loss At CSU

CHARLESTON, South Carolina – Host Charleston Southern captured the doubles point and notched victories at the No. 2 through No. 5 positions to defeat UNCW, 5-2, on Saturday in women's tennis at the Buccaneer Tennis Complex.
 
The Seahawks, completing a weekend road trip to the low country, had their record evened at 4-4 with their second straight loss. CSU improved to 2-4 and winning back-to-back matches against USC-Upstate and UNCW.
 
Sophomores Maddy Muller-Hughes and Rachel Marthinsen collected the singles wins for the Seahawks. Muller-Hughes rallied past CSU's Filippa Ericson at the top of the lineup, 1-6, 6-4, 6-3, and Marthinsen topped Yana Morar of CSU in straight sets at No. 6 singles by identical 6-3 scores.
 
The Seahawks conclude a three-game road swing on Thursday, Feb. 28, when they travel to Greenville, N.C., to battle rival East Carolina in a 2 p.m. match.
