Seahawks Sign Three Tennis Recruits

WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Veteran UNCW men's tennis head coach Mait Dubois has announced the signing of three outstanding recruits for the 2020-21 season.

The Seahawks, who begin their spring season on Jan. 18, 2020, at Duke, will welcome players from Rotterdam, Holland, Greensboro, N.C., and Huntington, W.Va., next fall.

"We're graduating four seniors that have had major impacts to our program from the day they arrived," said DuBois. "We know this is a very important recruiting class for us. I could not be more excited about our first three signees."

2020-21 UNCW Men's Tennis Recruits

Jurriaan Bol | Rotterdam, Holland
Finalist at Dutch Junior Nationals…Consistently ranked among the top players in the Netherlands…Has two ITF Junior Doubles titles…World Ranked ITF Junior
Coach DuBois on Bol: "Jurriaan comes to us very highly recommended by one of our Dutch alumni, Pedro Mol. Jurriaan is a very motivated student and has an excellent work ethic. He has put up his best results in the last year, beating many of the top ranked juniors in the world. He is showing that his level is on the rise and I am very excited about his potential. He is near the top of an extremely talented class of Dutch players and we are very excited to have him joining us."

Andrew "Drew" Broadstreet | Greensboro, NC
Has been ranked as the top recruit in North Carolina…Ranked as high as No. 72 nationally by Tennisrecruiting.net…4-star recruit by tennisrecruiting.net
Coach DuBois on Broadstreet: "Drew has been the top prospect out of North Carolina throughout most of his junior career. He has a big game and some real weapons that I think will help him be an exceptional college player. He has beaten a lot of the top players while getting limited playing time due to injuries. I am excited about having him in our training environment and helping his stay healthy. I know his best tennis is ahead of him. I really enjoyed getting to know him and has family. His coaches and the people around him speak extremely highly of his character and his work ethic. "

John Dransfeld | Huntington, W.Va.
Top-ranked prospect from West VirginiaRanked as high as No. 78 nationally this year and as high as No. 54 during his junior careerWon three rounds at the U.S. Hard Court Nationals in Kalamazoo, Mich…Recently won three rounds at the Grade 4 ITF event in Lexington, S.C…Made finals of back draw at 2019 USTA National Indoors.
Coach DuBois on Dransfeld: "John came across to me as a very focused individual that really knows what he wants. He is an extremely motivated student and has an excellent work ethic. He left home his last two years of high school so he could train full-time at the Smith Stearns Academy in Hilton Head, SC. He is obviously very committed to being successful. He has a big forehand and is coming in with some firepower that I know will continue to develop and help him be successful at the next level. He is starting to add some International experience to his playing resume and is quickly having success. I really enjoyed getting to know him and his mother and was impressed with the kind of person that he is. John had official visits to a couple other CAA schools and we're excited that he chose to join us."
