TALLAHASSEE, Florida – UNCW dropped a pair of duals on Friday to nationally-ranked Florida State and Florida Atlantic at the Seminole Beach Battle.

With the losses, UNCW dipped to 12-11 on the season while the Seminoles and Owls improved to 18-6 and 16-12, respectively.

"There was a lot of excitement in our first dual against Florida State," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "Our pairs were able to string together some solid runs against a top notch beach program. Unfortunately, we were not able to maintain our level of play against FAU. We know it's a challenging weekend, but we need to bring our best version of ourselves for tomorrow's match-ups."

Against FSU, who entered the weekend ranked sixth in the AVCA poll, UNCW dropped all five pairings in straight sets.

In the setback to FAU, Maddy Kline and Nicole Lott were able to take FAU to three sets, but fell 15-13 in the third.

Courtney Mullinax and Jaime Thomas gave a strong effort in the five pairing, falling 21-17, 21-17.

The Seahawks wrap up their weekend with an 8 a.m. start on Saturday against Georgia State and conclude the tournament at 12:30 p.m. against TCU.
