EMMERSON, Ga. – UNCW ended its season with a pair losses to Florida Atlantic (3-2) and Georgia State (5-0) on Saturday at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament in Emmerson, Ga.

The Seahawks finished with a 12-16 record in their third season as a varsity program.

"All weekend we had some good performances at certain pairings, but struggled to pull it together at the same time and earn a team win," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. We had a tough draw with four ranked opponents in our pool, but I think the level of competition was needed for our young team to experience. I have to give praise to our three outgoing seniors in Nicole (Lott), Sarah (Kelly) and Courtney (Mullinax), who battled to earn wins at their pairing on their final day with our program."

Against 18th-ranked FAU, UNCW earned wins at the first and fifth positions and lost in three sets in the third position.

Maddy Kline and Nicole Lott earned a three-set win in the top pairing, taking the third set by a 15-12 score. Courtney Mullinax and Sarah Kelly, meanwhile, won in straight sets, 21-16, 21-17.

Against Georgia State, which was ranked 11th, Halle Hunt and Katie McCullough extended their match to three sets before falling, 15-11.

Lott finished the season with 16 wins, ranking second all-time on UNCW single season record list and Kline added 15 wins, ranking in a tie for third all-time. Kelly capped her career as the winningest play for UNCW, posting 41 wins over three seasons.
