EMMERSON, GA. – UNCW came up just short in a 3-2 loss to eighth-ranked LSU at the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association tournament after falling to seventh-ranked Florida State, 5-0, earlier in the day on Friday.

The Seahawks, who have dropped their last five outings, dipped to 12-14 on the season while Florida State improved to 25-6 and LSU to 24-10.

Against LSU, Raquel Rooney and Jamie Thomas knocked off LSU's Megan Davenport and Emmy Allen, 21-16, 21-19, in the fourth pairings. UNCW other win came in three sets as Halle Hunt and Katie McCullough earned a 15-13 in the tie-breaking set to beat Hunter Domanski and Olivia Powers.

"We are excited for the opportunity to compete in a championship and test how far we have come this season," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek, who is in her third season. "FSU played a flawless dual and we struggled at most of our pairings to find consistency. We were certainly more in rhythm against LSU, and felt our tough serving and attacking helped earned the wins at three and four."

The Seahawks conclude the tournament on Saturday with two duals. UNCW will take on Florida Atlantic at 10:30 a.m. and Georgia State at 3 p.m.
