SAINT AUGUSTINE, Fla. – UNCW closed out its opening weekend at the UNF Beach Invitational with a pair of losses to nationally-ranked Georgia State and LSU on Sunday.

The Seahawks wrap up their weekend with a 1-3 mark while #13 Georgia State improved to 5-2 and the sixth-ranked Tigers went to 5-3.

"We knew our opening weekend was going to be against some of the best teams in the nation and I'm proud of the confidence our players showed," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. Courtney (Mullinax) and Jaime (Thomas) had an amazing day beating GSU's pair in the fifth position and taking LSU's to three sets. Overall, I'm very proud of the level of effort and individual improvements."

In the GSU match, the Seahawks pair of Courtney Mullinax and Jaime Thomas topped Maddie Gordon and Ashley Bauchert in three sets. Mullinax and Thomas were named to the All-Tournament team after finishing with a 2-2 record. The Panthers topped the Seahawks, 4-1.

In UNCW's second dual of the day, LSU swept the Seahawks, 5-0. Halle Hunt and JM Lewandowski fell in three sets as did Mullinax and Thomas.
