COLUMBIA, S.C. – UNCW topped Florida Gulf Coast and was edged by TCU to go 1-1 on Sunday as the Seahawks closed out the Gamecock Challenge with a record of 2-2 at Wheeler Beach.

UNCW (10-7) topped FGCU, 4-1, before bowing to TCU (5-13) by a 3-2 score.

"This was a challenging weekend and I'm proud of our overall effort at each position," said UNCW Head Coach Amy Bambenek. "FGCU was a very good team win and we had our chances against TCU. Nicole (Lott) and Maddy (Kline) continue to impress with their versatility, going 3-1 on the weekend, and keeping their points close in the loss to Hawaii."

Against FGCU, UNCW earned wins in both the four and five positions with both matches going three sets. The Seahawks were able to secure the win as Katie McCullough and Brynn Montgomery posted a 21-19, 21-17 win over Giovanni Borgiotti and Ashley Glickert.

TCU clinched the second dual of the morning, breaking a two-all deadlock with a three-set win in the third position. The Seahawks split the first two matches and drew even at two-all when Kline and Lott recorded a 21-18, 21-19 win in the number one position.

Kline and Lott compiled a 3-1 mark on the weekend to run their season record to 11-6.

UNCW hosts The UNCW Classic next weekend, Mar. 30-31, at Dig & Dive. Joining the Seahawks are Carson-Newman, the College of Charleston, Missouri Baptist, North Florida and Webber International.
