TAVARES, Fla. – After dropping its tournament opener to nationally-ranked Stetson, UNCW rallied to win two matches on Friday at the Hickory Point Lake Bash.
The Seahawks improved to 5-4 on the season with the two wins.

Against 15th-ranked Stetson, Katie McCullough and Brynn Montgomery dropped their match by the scores of 21-19 and 23-21. The Hatters rolled to wins in the other four pairings.

UNCW posted a shutout win, its third of the season, with a 5-0 blanking of Jacksonville. Each of the first three pairs was won in three sets, but McCullough and Montgomery cruised to a win by the scores of 21-17 and 21-14. In the fifth pairing, Courtney Mullinax and Jaime Thomas posted a win with scores of 21-15 and 21-19.

The final match of the day was a 4-1 win over Houston Baptist. The Seahawks picked up wins in all positions but three of the four wins went three sets. Only Sarah Kelly and Raquel Rooney won in a sweep.

Up next: The Seahawks conclude their tournament appearance with matches against nationally-ranked FIU (8 a.m.) and New Mexico (11 a.m.).
