WILMINGTON, North Carolina – After opening its season with a split of four games at the Charlotte First Pitch Classic, the UNCW softball team is ready to begin its home portion of the 2018 schedule this weekend with the Seahawk Softball Classic at Boseman Field.

The three-day, 10-game tournament will feature the host Seahawks in addition to Maine, Longwood and Bucknell. A slate of four games is scheduled for both Friday and Saturday before a twinbill completes the weekend on Sunday.
Five Things to Know
- UNCW has authored a 43-22 record on its home field over the last two years, including a 20-7 mark last season.
- The Seahawks are 11-12 all-time against the other three teams in this weekend's tournament, including a 7-3 mark against Bucknell. Longwood and UNCW has split six previous meetings while Maine holds a 6-1 lead in the all-time series.
- Junior Lacey Fox and senior Kelsey Bryan led the Seahawks' offense last weekend at Charlotte with five hits apiece. Bryan, the reigning Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player-of-the-Year, also notched the 100th hit of her career.
- Fox and sophomore Meghan Whitecavage hit the Seahawks' first two home runs of the season last weekend. Whitecavage's blast against Charlotte was the first home run of her college career.
- Maine will be opening its 2018 campaign this weekend while Bucknell and Longwood both opened their respective seasons last week.
