UNCW split a pair of exhibition games in prepping for C.B. McGrath's second campaign in the Port City. Clemson snapped UNCW's 29-game exhibition winning streak with a 78-67 decision in a special Hurricane Florence relief game on Oct.. 27 before the Seahawks bounced back with an 80-52 thumping of NCAA Division II William Peace last Friday.

The Camels, meanwhile, crushed Belmont Abbey, 83-56, on Oct. 27 behind Cory Gensler's 22 points. Big South preseason Player-of-the-Year Chris Clemons added 17 points in 16 minutes and Isaac Chatman had 12 for the Camels, who shot 54 percent and led by as many as 34 against the Division II Crusaders.

THE STORYLINES

LEADERS OF THE PACK: The game features last year's NCAA leading scorer (CU's Chris Clemons) and leading rebounder (UNCW's Devontae Cacok). Clemons collected 24.3 ppg as the Camels went 18-16 in Kevin McGeehan's fifth season in Buies Creek. Cacok grabbed 13.5 rpg to lead a different statistical category for the second year in a row.

SCANNING THE SERIES: UNCW owns a commanding 60-43 advantage in the lengthy series and has won three straight against CU. Campbell's last win over the Seahawks came on Dec. 23, 2014, when Kevin McGeehan's club fashioned a 69-63 verdict. UNCW has won 40 of the 52 games played between the two teams in NCAA Division I play.

MCGRATH VS. MCGEEHAN: C.B. McGrath is facing CU's Kevin McGeehan for only the second time following last year's 88-84 victory at Trask Coliseum. McGeehan, meanwhile, stands 1-4 against UNCW, including 1-1 in Buies Creek.

FOUR IN GORE: The Seahawks stand 1-3 in Gore Arena after winning for the first time in their last appearance after dropping their first three games in the cozy venue.

NEWBIES DEBUT: Five players are seeing action for the first time – officially – for the Seahawks. Jeantal Cylla, Ty Gadsden, Shawn O'Connell, Jaylen Sims and Kai Toews bring added depth to the team this season.

OPENING WITH CU: The two teams are meeting in the season opener for only the third time. UNCW topped CU in season openers back in 1965 and 1989.

EXHIBITION NOTES: Junior guard Jaylen Fornes led the Seahawks in scoring in the two preseason tune-ups, averaging 15.5 ppg. Redshirt junior guard Ty Taylor chipped in 13.5 ppg and senior forward Devontae Cacok raked in 10.0 ppg and 10.5 rpg.

CACOK ROCKS: Senior forward Devontae Cacok is poised for a big year. The First-Team All-CAA selection, who posted 22 double-doubles in 2017-18, was named to the Karl Malone Watch List and a First-Team Mid-Major All-American by NBC Sports.

CAROLINA COOKING: The Campbell game is one of eight matchups with North Carolina schools this season for the Seahawks. UNCW also battles Elon (x2), Davidson, East Carolina, Gardner-Webb, North Carolina and UNC Greensboro in 2018-19.

RPI REDUX: The Seahawks finished 243rd in the final RPI ratings one year ago, while the Camels ended up 253rd out of 351 NCAA D-I teams.
