Volleyhawks Head To CAA Tournament

The Seahawks open with a 6 p.m. match against third-seeded College of Charleston

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW returns to the Colonial Athletic Association championship tournament for the first time since winning it in 2015 when they take on host College of Charleston on Friday at 6 p.m. at TD Arena.

The Seahawks enter the postseason tournament as the six-seed after posting an 8-8 record and finishing a win behind fifth-seeded Northeastern.

UNCW missed the 2016 and 2017 editions of the tournament after an impressive run in 2015 to the title. The Seahawks swept CofC in the finals that season to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

Leading the Seahawks is senior outside Maddy Kline, who was named third-team All-CAA on Thursday. Kline leads the team in kills with 2.95 per set and is second with 0.32 aces per set. Both rank among the conference leaders.

Friday's match will be streamed by CAA.tv and will be the second match of a doubleheader that day with Northeastern and Towson playing at 3 p.m. Hofstra and James Madison earned first-round byes while HU won the regular season title.
