UNCW opens three-match homestand with Cougars

WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Seahawks return home this week when they open a three-match homestand against Colonial Athletic Association rival College of Charleston on Wednesday at Cape Fear Academy.

UNCW will play all three matches at Cape Fear Academy, in Wilmington, beginning with Wednesday's 8 p.m. start. Northeastern and Hofstra round out the home stretch on Oct. 5 and 7, respectively.

UNCW (8-3, 1-0 CAA) carries an eight-match winning streak into the homestand after opening conference play with a sweep of Delaware over the weekend in Newark, Del. The streak is the longest for the program since the 1991 season, when the Seahawks reeled off nine consecutive wins.

Charleston (12-5, 3-0 CAA) also totes a winning streak into the match, having won its last four and eight of its last nine outings. The Cougars earned an at-large berth to the NCAA tournament last season..
