Davidson Downs Seahawks In Women's Tennis

GREENSBORO, North Carolina – Junior Madara Straume remained unbeaten in singles, but Davidson took the doubles point and won five singles matches to cruise past UNCW, 6-1, in women's tennis action early Sunday at the Stetson Tennis Courts.

The Wildcats won their third straight match to run their record to 8-2 on the season, while the Seahawks dropped their second match in a row and fell to 4-3.

Straume, a junior from Jurmala, Latvia, rallied from behind to outlast Davidson's Anna C. Feaster, 1-6, 6-4, 1-0, at the top of the lineup. Straume has won all seven of her matches at No. 1 singles this spring.

The Seahawks conclude their spring break trip to the Sunshine State by playing the host Hatters on Tuesday at 11 a.m.
