WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Coach
Aidan Heaney and the UNCW men's soccer team will welcome Wake Forest to the UNCW Soccer Stadium on Saturday, Apr. 8, for the fifth annual Harry's Game to benefit children with special needs.
The Seahawks will take on the Demon Deacons at 6 p.m. with all proceeds going to the TOPSoccer Program and the Special Olympics of New Hanover County. Admission is $5 for adults, and youths 15 and under will be admitted free.
"This is a highlight on our calendar each year," Heaney said. "Our goal for Harry's Game is to bring awareness and acceptance of people with all types of intellectual disabilities as there is still a stigma associated with people who are born with different challenges.
"Raising a son with Down Syndrome has been a blessing for me and my wife, Stephanie. Like every kid, Harry wants to be accepted, have friends and be respected, so an event like ours tries to break down some of those barriers."
Gates will open at 4 p.m. for a variety of different events. The Seahawks will host a free soccer clinic before the game in addition to having inflatables, music and other activities for children. Free food and drinks will also be available.
"The turnout each spring from our community to support this event has been amazing and we have managed to raise money to donate to local charities as well," Heaney said. "It is a fun evening with lots of activities for the kids, so we encourage everyone to come out.

UNCW has posted a 1-0-3 record in the event following last year's 0-0 tie against Duke.
