Kron's Career Afternoon Earns CAA Weekly Honors

WILMINGTON, N.C. – UNCW men's soccer goalkeeper Alex Kron has earned Coastal Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week honors following his career afternoon on Sunday against Furman.

The Northern Kentucky transfer notched his second shutout of the season vs. the Paladins with a career-high eight saves. The Seahawks totaled 10 saves in the match, including two team saves, to remain unbeaten in 2026.

UNCW has not conceded a goal through the first three games of a season for the first time since 2018 thanks to a strong back line anchored by Kron, who has 10 saves this season, and Preseason All-CAA goalkeeper Trey Smiley, who fashioned a shutout on the road at Mercer last Thursday.

UNCW hosts defending CAA Champion Elon on Saturday night at 7 p.m. in the conference opener for both teams. The game will be streamed on FloCollege with live stats available.
